Moist Heat

Heat Therapy is used to provide warmth to the skin to reduce tightness and relax the muscles. It helps in increasing blood supply to the tissues, facilitating healing in body tissue and allowing the muscles and joints to get prepared for exercises and strengthening. There are two kinds of heat therapy devices generally used:

  • Moist Hot Packs
  • Electrical Heating Pads

We use moist hot packs, which are silicone filled cloth bags kept inside a hydrocollator unit at a temperature of 140- 160 degrees Fahrenheit. They are wrapped under 6-8 layers of towels before applying to the skin. They are applied for 15-20 minutes, after which the skin might look a bit red. This redness should go away in a few hours
